Wally Raises $25M to Expand Its Insurance-Free Dental Membership Model

Wally has raised $25 million in Series A funding to expand a dental-care model built around annual subscriptions rather than traditional insurance billing. Maveron led the round, with participation from Bling Capital and angel investors including Hims co-founder Jack Abraham.

The company offers a $249 annual membership that includes unlimited cleanings and diagnostics. It says it has surpassed 50,000 members and operates 15 locations. Wally plans to reach 100 locations by the end of 2027 and has announced a partnership with dental equipment company EMS Dental.

The pitch is that regular preventive appointments can become simpler and more predictable when customers pay a fixed price. But dental clinics remain physical businesses: hygienists, leases, equipment and appointment capacity all impose costs regardless of the subscription model. The most important metrics are therefore utilization, retention and the cost of opening each new location.

Wally says its members visit around three times per year, suggesting stronger engagement than occasional checkups. Those are company-reported figures. Turning a popular membership into a nationwide operation will require maintaining service quality while opening sites at a much faster pace. The Series A is meant to finance that expansion.
