Sabi Raises $50M to Build a Brain Interface Inside a Baseball Cap

Sabi has raised a $50 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures to develop a non-invasive brain-computer interface designed to look like a baseball cap. Accel and Initialized Capital participated alongside other investors and technology executives. The company plans to show an early prototype at CES 2027.

The cap uses sensors to capture electrical activity associated with the brain, with the aim of translating intended speech or actions into commands for AI systems. Sabi says its approach does not require surgery, gel or direct contact with the scalp. It also points to a dataset of more than 100,000 hours of labeled neural recordings as a foundation for training its models.

The technical gap between detecting brain signals and building a reliable everyday interface is considerable. A device used while walking, talking or working must cope with movement, electrical noise and differences among wearers. Demonstrating a command in a lab is not the same as offering a general-purpose input device.

The investment is a bet that advances in sensors and machine learning can bring brain interfaces outside clinical settings. Claims about accuracy, latency, privacy and usability will need evidence from independent testing and actual customers as the prototype becomes available.
