Corporate-spending platform Ramp has reportedly secured roughly $1.85 billion in financing at a valuation of about $60 billion, according to Bloomberg. The large round illustrates investors’ continued appetite for software that sits directly inside business payment and accounting workflows.

Ramp began by helping businesses issue cards and control expenses. Its broader proposition now includes automation across spending, procurement and financial operations. Those products can be sticky because they integrate with approval rules, accounting systems and the daily behavior of employees across an organization.

A high valuation also creates high expectations. Revenue growth matters, but so do customer acquisition costs, fraud and credit exposure, and how much of the company’s income comes from recurring software fees versus payment economics. Investors will be looking for evidence that additional automation expands revenue per customer without creating an expensive service burden.

The reported valuation is not the amount Ramp raised. Nor does the headline round by itself establish profitability. The funding may provide room to develop new products and pursue larger enterprise customers, where contracts can be lucrative but sales cycles, implementation requirements and compliance demands are more complex.
