The Chicago company's latest financing brings total funding to $260 million as it expands AI analytics for industries handling enormous volumes of operational information.

Ocient has raised $100 million in a Series C co-led by BOKA Capital and OCA Ventures, bringing its total funding to $260 million.

The financing, announced November 5, includes participation from existing investors such as Greycroft, In-Q-Tel, Blue Bear Capital, Buoyant Ventures and Pritzker Group Venture Capital.

The Chicago-based company develops data infrastructure and AI analytics systems designed to operate on extremely large datasets.

Its latest product direction focuses on agentic AI: systems that can investigate, query and reason across enterprise information without requiring analysts to manually assemble every query.

Why Traditional Data Analytics Becomes Expensive

Large companies generate enormous streams of information from networks, financial transactions, industrial equipment and customer activity.

In some environments, the volume reaches petabytes.

Traditional data systems can become expensive or slow when companies need to repeatedly query these datasets, particularly when information is continuously arriving.

Ocient develops technology that lets enterprises analyze data at large scale while keeping it accessible for operational decisions.

Its OcientAIQ platform extends that approach to AI-driven investigations.

In cybersecurity, for example, agents could examine network activity, identify suspicious patterns and trace an indicator across historical records.

The distinction matters because identifying a threat may require searching complete historical datasets rather than just a recent sample.

Expanding From Analytics Into AI

Ocient was co-founded by Chris Gladwin, who serves as CEO.

Gladwin previously founded Cleversafe, a data storage company acquired by IBM in 2015.

Ocient's strategy builds on his experience designing systems for organizations dealing with enormous quantities of data.

The company says it expects revenue to more than triple in 2026, although it has not publicly disclosed its absolute revenue or profitability.

The financing will support development and deployment of OcientAIQ, particularly for customers operating critical infrastructure.

The Challenge of Enterprise AI at Scale

Enterprise AI requires more than model accuracy.

An agent must have reliable access to current and historical information, understand what data it is authorized to use and produce results that analysts can independently check.

Ocient will also compete with established cloud data platforms and analytics providers expanding their own AI capabilities.

The $100 million Series C gives the company additional resources to pursue the opportunity.

Its central bet is that large enterprises need specialized infrastructure capable of making AI useful across entire operational datasets, rather than only the information small enough to fit into conventional analytical workflows.
